FIA WEC 6 hours of Fuji 9th October 2014 – Blog
I wake up hoping I would see Mount Fuji from the window. Low cloud and it looks like we are not going to see it today. Breakfast looks ok but by the end of the week I have had enough.
Local paper front page is all about the super moon.
I’m driving this trip, John and myself head off to the track. The view of the track from the media office is great right above the pits.
We have a full brief, first up for me is to photograph the Fuji school kids from a local school with the Audi safety car on the main straight of the track. Not as straight forward as you would expect when you need to try to avoid certain advertising boards. Lots of fun the kids were great and very enthusiastic.
Next I help my colleague Juliet who is the social media manager to get some images of the Fuji Speedway mascot Fuji-San.
Its starting to rain but I need to get round the track to check where the advertising banners are located, how to access the track. The only way to get round is to use a scooter.
Back to the media office, Juliet has arranged for a live twitter open session with the Toyota drivers Anthony Davidson (GBR) and Alexander Wurz (AUT) and their fans. At one point a fan asks the drivers what is their favourite dinosaur. Having a 7 old son I was able to suggest a few names to help them out Triceratops, Spinosaurus and Diplodocus.
The day finished with the FIA WEC team heading off for a team meal. This is the only time this race we are going to be able to get everyone together. We headed off to a Japanese Restaurant called Fuku Fuku !! The food was fantastic lots of different dishes. The main dish you boil the ingredients on the table in front of you.
Good evening and I’m a new fan to Japanese food.
