FIA WEC 6 Hours of Shanghai 29th to 30th October 2014 – Blog
Yet again I find myself at Heathrow airport, Terminal 5 its the 29th October and I would be landing at Shangai Pudong International Airport 30th October. I don’t mind these long haul flights the food is pretty good the films are ok. I have started to use my iPhone 5S camera processing the images using Snapseed.
Its raining in the UK lets hope China is warm and dry
Not long before we get above the clouds and blue skies
Coming into land at Shanghai Pudong International Airport I get my first glimpse of China.
We land at Shanghai Pudong International Airport and its raining, typical. We are are picked up this time and we head off to the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
The view from the bus, it takes about 90 minutes to get from the airport to the hotel. Its a mixture of flats, power lines and business buildings and it goes on and on. As we get nearer to the hotel the area becomes more countryside with a lot of smaller dwellings and signs of poverty. Just off the main road you capture glimpses of the real China.
We check in and head off to the rooms to drop of kit. Every room has a face mask which is a little disconcerting.
We head of to the Shanghai International Circuit. The view from the media office is amazing. The only downside we are on the 9th floor so we need to build in time getting to our destination.
30th October 2014
My job today is photograph the drivers and teams walking the circuit and to take photographs of the track with Sponsors Banners from the Media TV Cameraman viewpoint. This also a great time to check on how to get round the circuit on the scooter and look for places to photograph the cars during the race. Chicanes and corners are good as we need to try and capture the battle on the circuit with cars overtaking.
